Affordable Family Vacation Ideas - Live And Love Out Loud

Affordable Family Vacation Ideas

Nothing is better for recharging our batteries than taking a well-earned vacation after putting countless hours into a job that you, hopefully, love. However, there’s more than yourself to think about. You’ve got a whole family that wants to come along! The hubby and two kids insist that they accompany you. And what the heck, they’re not half bad, so why not? The more the merrier! However, more butts on the plane means the cost is going up. Whether you work at a hospital, a scribe agency, or even a marketing firm, taking the entire family on a tropical getaway can get expensive. But it doesn’t have to be. There’s a plethora of inexpensive vacation options at your fingertips, you need only choose.

The Beach

Tell the kids to pack some sunscreen, because it’s time to hit the beach. Nothing beats laying out on the sand and catching some rays while listening to your favorite podcast or getting engrossed in a thrilling novel. Going to the beach is a fairly inexpensive getaway idea with loads of different activities to keep the family entertained. Get competitive by playing some sand volleyball, or maybe try your hand at riding the waves of the ocean with some surfing, so long as you don’t mind wiping out once or twice. Many beaches also have bars to keep people hydrated, whether that be juice, a long island iced tea, or high quality H20. Myrtle beach has great hotels and condos at low prices–some right on the beach! Maybe you don’t want to test your luck in the bottomless ocean. That’s fine, too, because many larger lakes have their own beaches and resorts to stay at as well, with great accommodations and activities.

National Landmarks

Perhaps one of the most affordable options, visiting national landmarks can be a greatly rewarding experience, and one that can be enhanced with your family. Minus the cost of physically getting to these locations, a lot of them offer free or extremely cheap admission. Admire the beauty of Earth’s natural wonders, such as Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Niagara Falls, or the Rocky Mountains, along with all the other attractions surrounding these locations. There are also plenty of glamorous lakes to enjoy, like Lake Tahoe, Lake Powell, and Lake Michigan, which offer many different affordable outdoor activities. Or maybe consider visiting some man-made landmarks, like the historical touring of Washington D.C. or Mount Rushmore.

Amusement Parks

Roller coasters might not be the first thing that pops into your head when thinking of cheap vacation ideas, and you’re partly correct. Going to Amusement parks can be a little pricey if you don’t know how to properly book the tickets and hotels, but if you take the time to do some digging, you might find that not every park is going to run your wallet $150 a ticket. Lots of locations offer family deals to reduce the cost, as opposed to buying 4 separate tickets. Others, such as Universal Studios, have times of the year when admission prices are significantly reduced for multiple day entries, making it entirely worth the price. Smaller parks are also an option! Branson, MO, is an amazing place for families to visit, and Silver Dollar City is an experience unlike the larger parks, but wholly unique. Even if they aren’t the most inexpensive vacation option, there are definitely ways to make the experience cheaper if that’s a route you’re wanting to take, and some financial planning is another tool to make the job easier. So tell the kids to break the piggy bank, because they’re going to Disneyworld!

All of these options are a great way to spend your family vacation and connect with the ones you love. Be it hiking through a national park or relaxing on the beach, spending some time away from home doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.
